Even with the thousands of ways available to us today to help us research and make travel plans, I still find it to be a bit of a crapshoot when it comes to getting a truly unique and personalized view of a city when I travel. What ‘s worth seeking out and what’s over-hyped? Where do the locals really eat dinner? Never mind the beautiful, historically important churches – where do I find the best local jewelry designer and, while we’re at it, let’s talk about the local bands.
For those who like to travel with a guidebook in hand, more power to you – I’m sure you’ll have a great trip. I prefer a little trial and error, combined with selected input from trusted locals. Finding those trusted locals, of course, is the key. And, no offense, but I don’t think Yelp is necessarily the place to look. I want to be your trusted local for the great city of San Francisco. I’ve lived in the city for 15 years and, let’s just say, I get around. In the clean, helpful, way, that is – not the creepy, sleazy way. Want to shop? Eat? Surf? Drink your body weight in rum? See some great bands? Take a class on bookbinding? Let me know. I love this city and everything it has to offer, and I want to help you love it too!
Hopefully, this blog will introduce you to a few of my favorite people, places, and things in this fab city, and maybe inspire you to head on out and check them out for yourself. Make sure you look me up! I give you the tour on the back of my scooter. You can wear my extra helmet and everything.
